SOCIAL LEARNING THEORY

Our environment has a great impact in our learning. Social learning is where we acquire the learning through our family, friends, neighbors, the people surrounds us. Through the kind of upbringing of our family, by choosing our friends and what kind of environment we came from, they can identify who and what kind of person we are.
We learn through what we observe in our environment. It only depends on how and what we’ve learn. There are leanings that we encounter that have a great mean for us, especially when it affects our emotional development and brought a big value or else which means a lot for us that can never be easily forgotten. There are also learnings that are called short-term learnings because we are tending to forget it after a day or a week maybe because it has no big impact to us.

Learning Comprehension (6th week)

We can learn through our own experiences. When the learner learns, there is a big possibility that the comprehension skills will develop and enhanced. And there, the thinking strategies will become broaden and widen. Whereby effective teacher, there will be more learners. But it must consider their environment. The teacher must have a manageable size of class (40-45students). Also it must have an available and suitable instructional materials and devices.
There were principles and laws to be followed in order to make the learner and teacher more interactive. Some of the principles which are the very basic is giving democracy and encourages the learner to interplay of its ideas that is necessary condition for growth and development. It is because, giving freedom to a learner in expressing in its own ideas and opinion can help them motivated through effective learning. There were also some laws on order to make the learner and teacher more progressive, it is the LAW OF READINESS. In this law, the learner, the teacher, also the environment must be ready and prepare in every activity to be made so that the teaching and earning process is more effective.

Steps of Developing Learning (5th week)

Learning is a fundamental, interactive and a developmental process. It is because, it systematically occurs between the two stimulus in the invironment and responses. It is also involves the growth and development of a person which contributes to learning.
According to Henry Bergson, intuition as a dynamic process of thought which penetrated the static limitation of logic. Yes it is right, because through that intuition we can directly percept the facts and truth of what we have seen in our surroundings. We can directly interpret and give the meaning of that certain stimulus because intuition is having an idea about something.
One of the best things in learning is motivation which categorizes by two; the extrinsic motivation and which more on reward and punishment. Just like when a teacher gives a reward of those student who can get perfect during examination. While the other one is intrinsic motivation which has the ability to learn because it is desired by itself and finds it worth knowing.
It is more effective and easy in learning when the environment is considered. It must have a pleasant, permissive congenital, friendly and respectable atmosphere. So that the learner is free to learn.

"Meaningful Learning Theory"

It is where every individual learns by relating its newly acquired information to what it has been learned before. The transfer of learning is where the knowledge learn in particular situation to a new or different environment.
One of the best way to make the learner more responsive is to motivate her/him . But when the learner is restraining its another part of the brain which can cause to make the part be disuse that can make some information be forgotten.

"The sequence of Information Processing (Slavin)"

There are three major components of Information Processing the; Sensory registers which receive the big amount of information from the senses and holds it for a very short time for initial processing for transfer to the short-term memory. The Short-term or Working memory which holds the limited amount of information paid attention to, organizes it for storage or for discarding and connecting to other information. And the Long-term memory which keeps information for long period of time and integrates it through rehearsal, elaboration and organization with information that is already known.
There are basic concepts in cognitive theories of Learning which are the Perception, Storage, Encoding, Procedural memory, Semantic memory, Episodic memory. Information processing theories is also applied in classroom teaching which gives us the idea on how we implement the teaching strategies.
Commulative Learning Theory According to Klausmeir, learning occurs as the individual develops higher level skills that build successively on lower skills. There are 7 types of Learning according to level of skills/capabilities the Signal learning, Stimulus-response Learning, Motor Chains/Verbal Chains Learning, Discriminating Learning, Problem Solving, Rule-Learning, Concept Learning This commulative learning theory is also applied in classroom teaching in order for us to determine the kind of learner we encounter.

"Behavioral Theories of Learning"

In behavioral theories of learning that was reported by Hazel last week. The report is more on the ability, capacity and the behavior of a student inside the classroom and on motivation, tactics on how to make a student become a progressive. I have learned about the learning elements of Borich, the environment, performance and reinforcement. Also the operant conditioning theory of B.F. Skinner that gives emphasis on how the learning occurs during the operant or instrumental processes.

"LEARNING"

As what I have understand in Ms. Entor's report in our previous meeting, is that learning is a lifetime process and it is not a passive observation of knowledge. Because every single second, minute and hour of our life encounters different scenarios that can make affect our lives and has a big possibility making us change. Whether it is a problem or a blessing as long as it affects us, there the learning occurs. I have read this line during my research stated that, "Learning is a form of adaptation, a mode of adjustment and a change of behavior (bugelski 1956)" and I agree for this word.
